Peaks 4 Kristen

5 Years, 5 Peaks

After I lost my darling sister Kristen to Ovarian Cancer in December of 2019... and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, I asked myself what on earth can I do to fundraise, that won't be subject to a lock down and would have lots of fresh air?

Well I had never really hiked before, and I thought I want to do an activity that would challenge me. I also love spectacular views so that's when I came up with the idea of doing multiple Glass House Mountains, staring with the incredible views from sunrise at Wild Horse Mountain.

What started as a crazy idea, has become a favourite day of the year for many involved. It is rewarding, it is an opportunity to think, and to be grateful for the able bodies we have that lug us up these peaks. It also gives us poise, to remember the women that have been lost to the disease, those that are currently at battle and their families.

Kristen firmly believed that research was the key to understand this disease and find better treatment options. As she said "the outcomes for women are simply not good enough".

Thank you for your support xx Elsa
