Funding Lifesaving Research

While survivorship has significantly improved for most cancers over the past 30 years, gynaecological cancer outcomes have remained largely stagnant, highlighting a critical gap in progress and a need for continued research.

That's why we exist to fund ANZGOG's world-leading gynaecological cancer research.

Our Research Ethos

ANZGOG has more than 1,450 members across Australia and New Zealand representing clinical, allied health and pure research specialities, and includes community. These members work together to bring the best treatments possible to women with gynaecological cancer.

Multidisciplinary

We bring together the brightest minds in gynaecological oncology, from a range of specialities and disciplines, to create research of the highest quality for women.

Community Input

People with a lived experience help shape our research at every stage of the research development process, ensuring its relevancy and enabling them to have a voice.

Equitable Access

We are inclusive and strive to enable access to and benefit from our research for all, ensuring that our research engages women from a range of diverse backgrounds and regional/rural areas.

Working Locally & Globally

Saving Women's Lives

ANZGOG actively engages with our members, the Australian and New Zealand clinical research community and our international partners to ensure the relevance, vibrancy and impact of our research agenda.

ANZGOG trials are led by their members, with some developed locally and others run as part of international collaborations, where ANZGOG leads the ANZ operations. This allows ANZGOG to offer a wide range of trials and fast-track new treatments for women in Australia and New Zealand.

These collaborations are the key to ANZGOG’s success and support our diverse research activity and our work as a leader in gynaecological cancer research.

ANZGOG's Latest Trials

ANZGOG trials are led by their members, with some developed locally and others run as part of international collaborations, where ANZGOG leads the Australian and New Zealand operations. This allows ANZGOG to offer a wide range of trials and fast-track new treatments for women.

For more information on ANZGOG's trials, please contact us or visit our website. Always speak to your oncologist for more information on how to participate in a clinical trial.

IGNITE

IGNITE is testing how effective adavosertib treatment is for patients with relapsed high grade serous or endometrioid ovarian cancer with particular genetic faults, which alter how tumour cells respond to treatment.

ADELE

ADELE is a randomised phase 2 trial testing the effect of adjuvant tislelizumab plus chemotherapy after post-operative pelvic chemoradiation in high risk endometrial cancer.

EPOCH

EPOCH is seeking to improve outcomes in women with tubo-ovarian or uterine carcinosarcoma by providing patients with access to a treatment that offers a greater degree of clinical benefit compared to currently available standard chemotherapeutic options.

Community involvement in our research

“The community is at the heart of everything that we do at ANZGOG. They remind us how important advancing research is for others, they keep us on track, focusing on what matters most and they shape ANZGOG’s research direction by providing their unique lived experience.”

Our Research Programs

OASIS Initiative

The OASIS Initiative matches molecular subtypes of ovarian cancer with targeted new therapies designed to improve women’s lives, and aims to significantly shorten the cycle of clinical testing.

EDEN Initiative

The EDEN Initiative shines a spotlight on endometrial cancer and the unmet needs of patients. Its goal is flattening the curve of endometrial cancer - improving survival.

TR-ANZGOG

TR-ANZGOG is a translational research initiative that adds value to important clinical trials in women with gynaecological cancers by supporting the collection and use of biospecimens for future research.

Our Research Approach

“ANZGOG’s research portfolio represents the multidisciplinary approach required for the treatment of gynaecological cancers."

"In developing our research, ANZGOG and its members ensure that all of the work we undertake is of the highest scientific merit, is feasible, and needed by the communities that our research supports. More importantly, we ensure that people with a lived experience of gynaecological cancer are involved in each step of the research development process, ensuring that the voices of the gynaecological cancer community are not only recognised, but uplifted.”

Each year in Australia 1,786 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and over 1,000 women lose their life. February is ovarian cancer awareness month, we are working to raise awareness and funds for critical research to change these statistics and help save women’s lives.

There are 5 main types of gynaecological cancers and hundreds of sub-types. 19 women in Australia are diagnosed every day
