RUN FOR RESEARCH IN YOUR CITY
SUPPORT VITAL RESEARCH TO SAVE WOMEN’S LIVES NATIONWIDE.
Why help us?
Everyday over 19 women are diagnosed in Australia, with one death every four hours. In 25 years survival rates have improved only 7%, with other cancer survival rates improving 17%. Gynaecological cancers are critically under-funded. We need your help to change these statistics and fight for the 6,777 women diagnosed every year.
WomenCan fundraise for gynaecological cancer research conducted by the Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group. Leading women’s cancer research to drive improved treatment pathways and better outcomes for women.
On average a clinical trial costs more than a million dollars, which is why the continued support of people like you is vital to improving women’s survival rates.
When we speak to women diagnosed, and their families, the consistent message is that they feel alone. Together we can help change that through raising awareness and funds for research.
How to help
It’s easy, you can either join an event in your state or choose your distance and date and set your own challenge. Choose to do it solo or join forces with your local gym, run group or workplace. You could even get your friends or local community together.
The options are endless, and we help you every step of the way with tips and tricks to help you fundraise and make the biggest impact possible for women.
If you’re stuck for idea’s but know you want to run for research just call us and we will happily help you get started.
How it works
Step 1 Register for an event or set up a fundraising page for your own challenge
Step 2 Upload your image and tell your story – this step is critical as people are more likely to donate when they can see a familiar face and hear your reason why
Step 3 Share your page with friend, family, colleagues and your community to ask for support, raise awareness and vital funds for women with a gynaecological cancer. The more you raise the more you win
All funds raised through your page go straight to WomenCan and towards research. We will help you out with a fundraising toolkit, social assets to share and more.

Meet Annie
Annie took part in the 2024 NIKE Melbourne Marathon to support her close friend Alex, who was diagnosed with metastatic uterine cancer. Throughout her own journey, Alex has shared her story through our Survivors Teaching Students program, inspiring others while facing incredible challenges.
"I feel very lucky to be able to train for and participate in marathons. I’m still reasonably new to running and I set myself this challenge (Nike Melbourne Marathon) to test my limits in my running, but also find a fun way to raise awareness and funds for gynaecological cancer. A family very close to me is battling metastatic uterine cancer and works closely with womencan (the lovely Alex - her daughters are some of my closest friends). Womencan is an organisation which provides funding for research and provides vital education and a sense of solidarity within this community. Alex is a strong supporter of Womencan, and I am honoured to contribute even a small amount into Alex’s and Womencan’s work! "
