New WomenCan Partner Leaving Lasting Legacy

07 Apr 2021

Welcome to our new partner Flickering Memories – a community group based in Burnie, Tasmania who raise funds for women with ovarian and breast cancer.

Starting from humble beginnings in 2014, Flickering Memories have now raised over $85,000 from their various fundraising activities, including their incredibly popular afternoon tea, which each year goes from strength to strength.

WomenCan’s Head of Fundraising and Development, Karen Livingstone AM, recently met with Flickering Memories co-founders Sue Radford and Virginia Stevens, who generously donated $10,000 to fund an ANZGOG research project.

“Virginia and I decided to start supporting ANZGOG due to a special friend having a rare form of ovarian cancer and also a young 26 year old local business owner, who sadly lost her battle to another rare form of ovarian cancer” said Flickering Memories co-founder Sue Radford “We need research to learn more about ovarian cancer and other women’s cancers”.

“We are thrilled to partner with Flickering Memories” said Karen. “Sue and Virginia are truly wonderful champions for women’s cancers and understand the importance of gynaecological cancer research. Their funding of ANZGOG's research supports our mission to enable women to live better and live longer.”
