In the heart of North-West Tasmania, something extraordinary happens every year. For two beautiful days, the town of Penguin fills with laughter, warmth, delicious treats, and a wave of teal as the Flickering Memories High Teas bring the community together with one shared purpose — to support women facing ovarian and gynaecological cancers.

Led by the passionate and dedicated Sue, Flickering Memories has become far more than an event. It’s a movement. A heartfelt initiative inspired by Sue’s own connection to women’s cancers, and driven by a desire to ensure that local women understand the symptoms and risks of ovarian and other gynaecological cancers. It’s a reminder that awareness saves lives, and community creates change.

This year, Sue and the Flickering Memories team raised an incredible $20,068 for WomenCan. A stunning result made possible by generous guests, tireless volunteers, talented bakers, local businesses and sponsors who believe that women deserve better outcomes and the best chance of survival.

Since 2020, the Flickering Memories movement has now raised over $92,000 for WomenCan.
These funds are helping to support a new ANZGOG research project, delivering hope and advancing treatment for women diagnosed with ovarian and other gynaecological cancers across Australia & New Zealand.
