The overwhelming amount of support has made me very emotional. I don’t think I could ever have predicted the love and generosity shown by everyone in the last 24 hours. Thank you very much.I'm walking to fund gynaecological cancer research!
As many of you know my mum was diagnosed with Stage IV endometrial cancer when my daughter was 5 weeks old.
She had been experiencing unusual symptoms for months and by the time cancer was detected (a rare and aggressive form) it had spread. It happened so quickly and she became unwell in what felt like overnight. She is a fighter, and doing everything she can to beat this beast. She is now half way through her initial rounds of chemotherapy and I just know in my heart she will be the miracle survivor! Her delayed diagnosis showed me that there is not enough focus on these types of cancer.
A lot of research is needed in this space and clinical trials need support here in Australia. Feeling helpless as my hero fights this sickness and wishing I could do more, I am going to be walking 10,000 steps a day with my daughter until Christmas to raise some money. My mum is feeling very tired but will join me on days she feels up to it to get some exercise too! Any donation would help and all money goes to help fund research that will enable women with gynaecological cancer to live longer better lives.
My mum is my special person and as you can imagine this rocked my entire world. She is one in a million and so important to so many people. Those who know her will know that she is quite a private person and super resilient. In her words “no casserole drop offs because I am beating this thing”. If you see her - positive vibes only!
