I'm challenging myself to help fund gynaecological cancer research!
After, 22 years away from racing, I’m heading back to the start line to take on a triathlon, both as a personal challenge and to raise funds and awareness for Leiomyosarcoma.
This cause is deeply personal to me. Our wonderful friend, Nancy, was taken from us by this rare and aggressive cancer. Nancy was someone who brought so much love, energy, joy, humor, and kindness into the lives of the people around her, and her loss has been felt deeply by all of us who loved her.
Watching Nancy, and her family’s strength and courage throughout her illness was both inspiring and heartbreaking. The experience left a lasting mark on me, and it’s one of the reasons I wanted to take on this challenge to honor Nancy’s memory and to help raise awareness and support for others facing Leiomyosarcoma.
Returning to triathlon after more than two decades will be no small feat. Every swim, ride, and run is about rebuilding endurance and pushing myself again, but it’s also about doing something meaningful in my friend’s memory
Leiomyosarcoma is a rare disease that receives far too little attention and funding. By supporting this challenge, you’ll be helping raise awareness and contribute to research that can improve outcomes for others facing this devastating diagnosis.
