Flickering Memories is a dedicated group of people from the Burnie region in North-West Tasmania who every year run high teas for the community in Penguin, over two days. Led by Sue Radford, who has been touched by women’s cancers, this community group have the goal of raising funds and educating the women in their local community about the symptoms and risks of ovarian and other gynaecological cancers. Sue and her fellow convenors, including Virginia Stevens, (who has since stepped down) started fundraising for WomenCan in 2020. Since 2020, the Flickering Memories movement has raised $57,000 for WomenCan. Together, the Flickering Memories community put their heart and soul into funding a new research project for ANZGOG.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
