Robyn Ross: Bringing art and Honour for women's research

29 August 2022

September is gynaecological cancer awareness month – a cause that is very close to the heart of NSW based artist Robyn Ross, with the disease having impacted both her mother and very close friends.

"My mother died of ovarian cancer 16 years ago and a dear friend lost her battle with gynaecological cancer more recently. Both were taken by this terrible disease far too young." Robyn Ross

“I have missed my mother every day since. In her honour, I feel compelled to raise awareness and funds for gynaecological cancer research.”

WomenCan is thrilled to feature Robyn’s inspirational artwork “Honour” as our hero image for the Honour Her 2022 campaign.

Explains Robyn “This painting - a profile of a woman filled with flowers against a simple plain grey background - makes a statement about how there is so much going on when fighting cancer. It takes strength and support and may all the money raised from the sales of the art during Honour Her advance treatment and research.”

Honour Her is an empowering campaign recognising women affected by gynaecological cancer.  Every year, 6,600 Australian women are diagnosed with one of seven gynaecological cancers.

By buying artwork from our virtual gallery, bidding on a piece in the online auction or contributing to our Honour Wall, you are joining a community of like-minded people, enabling women with gynaecological to live better, longer lives.
