#ovariancancerawareness
Join the 5th Annual Peaks 4 Kristen fundraiser, hiking Five of the Glass House Mountains in One Day, September 15. This incredible adventure aims to raise awareness and funds for Ovarian Cancer research, in honour of Kristen Larsen and all women and their families affected by this disease. Since the Peaks4Kristen event began in 2020, over $23,000 has been raised and we hope to reach new heights in 2024. Funds raised support the crucial research undertaken by the Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG) through Kristen's Living Legacy.

kristen's story
Kristen lived by the quote “if your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough”.
At the age of 21, Kristen’s life changed forever as she was diagnosed with advanced Ovarian Cancer. Kristen showed incredible courage and determination and always held hope. She continued to dream big and wanted to make a difference for her fellow Teal Sisters.
Over 6 years, despite being in continuous treatment, Kristen was a champion for raising awareness of the disease and funds for research. The impact Kristen had in elevating the Teal profile and raising awareness worldwide, is immeasurable.
Her extensive volunteer efforts were recognised as a Young Australian of the Year 2019 finalist for Queensland. Kristen's final advocacy project was the Ovarshare Podcast, which she created as a platform to share the stories of young women affected by Ovarian Cancer.
Kristen knew first hand that research is the only hope women like her, have for a future. Not long before she passed, Kristen created a fundraising page with the aim of raising $1 million dollars towards research funding- this will live on in her honour and is called Kristen's Living Legacy. Please consider donating or holding a fundraiser in benefit of her Legacy:Kristen's Living Legacy
Kristen Freya Larsen passed away on the 9th of December.
Her smile so genuine, and her laugh always full of joy. Kristen’s story will live on, will continue to impact, and inspire us.
WHAT FUNDS ARE USED FOR
The funds raised are vital for advancing research into Low-Grade Ovarian Cancer, a rare and challenging subtype with a survival rate of only 15%. Unlike more common cancers, Low-Grade Ovarian Cancer receives limited research funding, making it difficult to make significant progress. With your support, you are contributing directly to targeted research that addresses the specific needs of this disease. Donations help fund critical studies, improve treatment options, and ultimately work towards increasing survival rates for younger women affected by this rare form of cancer.
Funds raised throughout the Peaks 4 Kristen campaign support ANZGOG’s research and education program, bringing ovarian cancer survivors into the classroom of medical students to share their lived experiences.
The funds further provide support for patients to access low-grade ovarian cancer clinical trials, particularly in regional and remote areas, ensuring women have access to the best available care irrespective of where they live.
