'Preparations' by Sabina Mary Morrow [drypoint mounted print 70mm x 90mm]
I am a printmaker from Sydney, Australia.
I create a variety of work using line, texture and colour, with many types of plates, thereby creating an image which will then be inked up and printed.
This print was made by a method called drypoint. Rather than the line being etched with an acid or a salt, the lines are made by scratching directly onto the plate; this time a piece of aluminium.
I am part of the exciting collaborative artist team of the Art Gallery on Darling, Balmain, Sydney. My prints have been selected for exhibitions such as the Lane Cove Art Society Exhibition, Hunters Hill Art Exhibition, PackSaddle Art Exhibition, ArtEst Art exhibitions and community based fund raising exhibitions.
At first glance, this small image shows a woman's ordinary act of preparing for the
day. But she is also naked and vulnerable. Wellness requires attention to our bodies, and illness asks for our compassion for the body's vulnerability.
