Mini Trots Team Teal Wrap up

As we have come to the end of our Mini Trot Team Teal campaign for 2020.   I would like to thank everyone that has supported, donated and assisted in some way over the past 6 weeks.

All Mini Trot clubs in NSW made up be Tamworth, Newcastle/ Maitland, Bathurst, Leeton, Menangle. Shoalhaven, Riverina, Penrith and Capital worked together raising $10,018.00

With funds Going WomenCan to support women with Ovarian Cancer.

Around the clubs many fundraising events were held

NEWCASTLE/ MAITLAND- Few different fundraising activities and events were held over the 6-week period, with Cupcakes sold at each harness racing meeting at Newcastle Paceway, along with wristbands.   The club hosted a Ladies High Tea which went off as a great day with lots of donated raffle prizes.   We had the support of Hygain suppling raffle tickets to win horse feed prize as well as Team Hygain Teal hats with profits donated we raised $584 with help of Hygain.   We had Team teal shirts designed which were very popular and looked fantastic being worn at race meetings sale of the shirts raised $731.   Also, we worked alongside Newcastle Harness on our fundraiser race night on 14th March including raffles, sweeps and Team Teal Meal deal in the restaurant were Newcastle harness raised - $642 donating into the mini trot tally. Some junior reinswomen of the club had sponsors throughout Team Teal raising more donations. Also working alongside NSW mini Trots to host a raffle on Miracle Mile night with Parramatta Ells donating the prize raffle raised- $894- Total funds raised by the club as a whole with all above mention fundraising was $6,248.00

MENANGLE PARK MINI TROT CLUB- Throughout Team teal Menangle mini trot club took park in selling cupcakes at their race events to raise funds, for to support women with Ovarian cancer along with a donation they raised $925.00

RIVERINA MINI TROTS-     Our club has enjoyed being part of this promotion and awareness campaign.   Our club involved both our young female drivers and senior female drivers in two events.   We held a female gig foot race at Coolamon on March 1st. Our 6 senior lady drivers and 6 junior female drives paired up and raced each other up the straight. Amanda Dean and Chelsea Heinjus won. We then held a race where 6 senior drivers from our area drove mare mini trotters at Young on 13th March. With Melissa Hawke driving Berry'd Treasure to win this hotly contested race. We also sold cupcakes during the promotion. Our total is $463.80.

PENRITH MINI TROT- During Team Teal, all the kids walked around selling cupcakes, wearing their teal pants at race meetings. Raising - $390 towards Ovarian Cancer.

 

TAMWORTH MINI TROT CLUB-  All club members got involved both the female and male members, in making and selling cupcakes throughout Team Teal.   As a club we attended Armidale Carnival of Cups were Teal cookies were sold to raise funds, the cookies were a hit on the day.   Some club members also had sponsors through out Team teal raising extra funds for the charity, as a club - $547 was raised.

 

BATHURST MINI TROT CLUB- Over the course of Team Teal we took part in selling cupcakes at race events raising- $130.00 going towards supporting Women with Ovarian Cancer.

 

LEETON MINI TROT CLUB- To Raise funds to support women with Ovarian Cancer Leeton Mini Trot club hosted a raffle and their final race meeting, Also sourcing a major $1,000 donation for Team Teal raising - $1314.00 for the charity.

Miles Family Mini Trot Mile

Friday night racing for Newcastle Maitland Mini trots at the Newcastle Mile, seen big numbers of 29 horses. Horses were split into races of 14 and 15 for running of a heat for each group with the fastest 15 ponies on the night going into the Miles family Mini Trot Mile final sponsored by Brad Miles Equine trigger point therapy.

Heat 1 was taken out with a big win to Major Jiba driven by Amity Cassar – Amity is sponsored by Sunsetridge Agistment, 1 & Only cleaning and Peter Witcom Racing. Second went to Ultimate Jazz for Emme Formosa- sponsored by Formosa racing stables, third place went to Ashleigh's Honey- Ruby McMillan - sponsored by Performance Horse Magazine.

Heat 2 Again taken out by female driver Makaylah Fenwick driving Little Pete, second place went to Red Corvette – Harrison Wiggins, taking out third place was Doubleoseven for Grace Campbell- Grace is sponsored by Vandabell Equine and sports Jewellery.

The Miles family Mini Trot Mile seen very close finish for the field of 15 horses with a close battle for first place, but it gave Ruby McMillan her first ever race win Mini trots since starting the sport. Ruby took out first place driving Ashleigh’s Honey, Ruby is sponsored by Performance Horse Magazine, with a close 2nd to Ultimate Jazz for Emme Formosa – sponsored by Formosa Racing stables, for clean female driver sweep in the final third place went to Doubleoseven for Grace Campbell- sponsored by Vandabell Equine and sports Jewellery.

Congratulations to all drivers on the performance of your horses on such a big night of racing. On the night we also had our mini trot girls in their teal pants walk the horses on the track for the Newcastle Mile- which Jorja Daskalovski and Amity Cassar lead out the winning horse

Together 9 NSW Mini Trot Clubs are challenging to race in teal pants to raise awareness and much-needed funds for ovarian cancer research.

In February and March, Junior female Mini Trot drivers will be  challenging  to race in teal pants to raise awareness and much-needed funds for ovarian cancer research.

Funds raised, support the Research Nurse Grant Program and the Survivors Teaching Students Program.
