WHAT IS TEAM TEAL?
The Team Teal campaign is a partnership between WomenCan, the Harness Racing industry in Australia & New Zealand and Tabcorp whereby all reinswomen race in teal pants to raise awareness and much-needed funds for women with ovarian cancer when they secure first place across the finish line.
Funds raised by Team Teal support ANZGOG’s ground-breaking Survivors Teaching Students program and ensures women have access to gynaecological cancer clinical trials irrespective of where they live, enabling them to live better and live longer.
The Harness Racing industry is proud of the contribution made by reinswomen as it's one of the few sports in the world with a balanced representation of women and men. This makes supporting ANZGOG to help women with ovarian cancer very relevant.

WHAT FUNDS ARE USED FOR
Through the Team Teal initiative, the harness racing community is raising much needed funds for ovarian cancer research and awareness:
Funds raised from the Team Teal campaign will support ANZGOG’s education and prevention program – Survivors Teaching Students, bringing ovarian cancer survivors into the classroom of medical students to share their lived experience.
The funds further provide support for patients to access gynaecological cancer clinical trials, particularly in regional and remote areas, ensuring women have access to the best available care irrespective of where they live.
TEAM TEAL HISTORY
The Team Teal campaign was created by Duncan McPherson OAM who lost his wife Lyn to ovarian cancer in 2010. In failing health, Lyn began fundraising for ovarian cancer research, an initiative that Duncan connected with his passion for harness racing, co-founding Team Teal with fellow owners and trainers, Michael Taranto and Jim Connolly.
The campaign expanded from harness racing in Victoria to New South Wales in 2016, to harness racing in all Australian states in 2017 and internationally to harness racing in New Zealand in 2018.
The vision of Team Teal is to continue to expand our collective efforts to help women live better and live longer.
