Cook strait and Channel grease!! Raising funds for Ovarian cancer research and awareness

By Sally Catt Join Me

Cook Strait swim

f    I am attempting the Cook Strait next week. It's a bloody tough swim.  Cold, sharky and totally unpredictable. My friend Caitlin has been an ovarian cancer sufferer for nine years - so much tougher, so unfair. Cancer is unfair, but having a rare cancer is a double wammy, where funding for cures seems only to come via charities - if you can, please help by donating here for more research and awareness.  Also, channel grease is still available

I'm fundraising for a great cause!

My page is still active and I'd like to thank all those that have donated pre 2023.  I have made more of the famous Channel grease and one way to secure your pot is to donate directly to this charity, please specify on the funding page that you’d like some, and then email or pm me (see end of post). The channel grease is a lanolin/Vaseline mix (with or without zinc, your choice), normally  $20 for a 200g pot -donate what you feel like - all proceedings to go to charity. If you prefer- I can take cash, or will give bank details for transfer and make the donation myself.  Email: sally.catt@monash.edu or facebook message me your requirements and contact details also (if not local)

Save the Box (ANZGOG) was my charity of choice for raising funds while training for the English Channel in 2018. My choice inspired by Sydney friend Caitlin, who had been through hell and back, trying to treat stage 4 ovarian cancer- and 4 years on, she's still living with the disease, with only new research and new clinical trials to give her hope of a few more years with her young family. Ovarian cancer takes many forms- each requiring specific treatment strategies, statistics continue to be grim, and funding slim.   More research, more trials, more funding still needed for all sufferers.
