'Zebra Finches' by Barry Ward [acrylic 400mm x 400mm]
Barry Ward has had two lifelong passions throughout his 91 years – his beloved wife, Margaret, and art. Barry and Margaret met when they were just 14, and had been married for 65 years when Margaret lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2018.
Now, Barry continues to experiment with many types of painting and drawing, from portraits and cartoons to still life and landscapes.
'I am supporting Honour Her'....
Art is his way of recapturing past images and experiences, like Margaret’s strength and devotion throughout her five-year fight against ovarian cancer.
‘For the five years she battled Ovarian cancer she never wavered in her love and devotion to me and our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the many who sought her advice, love and company’.
Barry is donating all proceeds from his work, 11 Baker's Lane Dam, to pioneering gynaecological cancer research in honour of his darling wife.
